We love Porsche because of their engineering and history so today’s pick is a tasty bit of history – the Porsche 917 AKA the ‘Pink Pig’.

If you dig into Porsche’s Museum of treasures you will stumble across the Porsche 917 one of the most famous cars to make history.

This is a spectacular car that gave much success to Porsche in the early 1970s, and despite the name, this fierce set of wheels did not oink but it did know how to race.

With at least eleven variants of the Porsche 917, it undoubtedly was one of the most successful race-cars in Porscge racing history.

A truly exceptional competition car, won the famous Le Mans 24-hour race in 1971.

The Pink Pig and its outlandish pink body paint job was created by artists at the Porsche design studio to replicate the colour of a pig.

These designers chose the colours of a pig, which certain grabbed the attention of the press and a lot of people.

In 1971 was where the Pink Pig worked its magic taking home a win at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

It absolutely dominated the 1970 and 1971 World Sportscar Championships.5433c8a96c4a36f638d3e4a4baf50347
