Legendary soccer manager Jose Mourinho has quite the appreciation for Jaguar’s 2017 F-Pace.
Jose Mourinho is known for being a world-class soccer manager but he is also just as known as a notoriously grumpy one. The list of honours from the game attached to the career of Mourinho is nothing short of incredible. He has won at every level and no other manger has garnered the number of titles as he has.
Mourinho is a legendary manager who has earned over $50 million in his career but unlike most of his players who drive rather ostentatious cars, Mourinho has more of an acquired tasted for his garage. Make no mistake though, he is just as much a petrol head than his younger star players. Despite his stern demeanour on television, there is one car maker that can put a smile on his stern demeanour, Jaguar.
Mourinho has been one of Jaguar’s most loyal and high profile customers. He has owned dozens of different Jaguars over the years and in 2017, he made a surprise visit to Jaguar HQ in Manchester, England, to see where his favourite cars get designed. He also went to see a car that he had been eyeing up for a while, the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace. ‘It was an amazing experience to visit Jaguar’s factory and see all the cars, technology and hard work that goes into developing such a beautiful car.
Jaguar is a brand that I have been involved with for many years,’ Mourinho excitingly said. ‘Back in 2014, I was the first UK customer to receive the F-Type Coupe and now to become the 100,000th Jaguar F-Pace customer is something that is very special.’
Mourinho is clearly quite the Jaguar aficionado. A few months before his visit at the factory, he went to Sweden to test the Jaguar F-Pace on a 35 mile frozen lake, he quite literally goes out of way for this car. Jaguar named this SUV after a mission statement they released claiming that all their cars carry grace, space and pace. Mourinho clearly agrees and has a lot of respect for the British car manufacturer, “Jaguar for me represents passion and performance. You feel the passion that they invest into their cars.”
F-Pace features
The F-Pace is Jaguar’s fastest ever selling car, which is a surprise to many as they have a long history of making cars and this SUV is the first in its repertoire. One reason is because like most SUVs, they are a symbol of practicality and comfort. The F-Pace is no exception and it drives great. The SUV packs a 380 horsepower, 3.0 litre supercharged V6, four cylinder, diesel engine which powers the car to a respectable 0-100 kmh in 5.1 seconds. This large SUV has the power but it also has brilliant handling, up there with its competition.
The F-Pace is also a great looking SUV and despite it being the first Jaguar in this class, it has kept its identity intact. The headlights have the classic J-blade style and the emblem on the rear end is large and conspicuous. The overall profile is clean and sleek, which doesn’t contradict it’s toughly built purpose.
Inside too, the interior is modern, spacious and luxurious. Jaguar has really lived up to its mission statement with this car as it gleams grace. This should not be a surprise though as Jaguar, historically, always have had luxurious cabins. The colour scheme works so well and the leather sport seats have heating and cooling features.
The SUV class is certainly not everybody’s cup of tea and whilst the F-Type is not a car to drop jaws on the street, it is fantastically executed car by Jaguar. It is easy to see why José Mourinho enjoys cars from the Jaguar stable, they are as he says, “passionately made”. And with the F-Type, it shows.
