One of the dazzling features amongst 150 autos up for auction in the UK at the NEC, Birmingham, on 24 and 25 March, is a completely restored1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal. It’s being taken care of by Classic Car Auctions (CCA).
Since it was last sold off back in 2013, it is rumoured to have experienced a $50,000 (AUD) rebuilding including various performance updates and enhancements.
The left-hand-drive Classic lays claim to being one of the most, if not the most outstanding existing model of its kind on the planet, which of these are only about 64 thought to exist in the UK.
This Montreal was created on 14 October, ’72, and sold new to its first proprietor only 3 days after the fact by Alfa Romeo in Brussels. It was later transported into the UK in 1989 and has had only four proprietors in its lifetime.
Completed in Alfa Rosso, the Montreal includes various modern and stylish nods to design, incorporating four headlights with their own eyelids, NACA bonnet duct and cosmetic cabin vents, and a 2.6lt V8 motor and five-speed ZF manual gearbox.
The reclamation also featured:
- New steering and suspension joints
- Upgraded radiator with duel fans
- Movable top-most arm front suspension
- New Bilstein shock absorbers
- Classic Alfa handling kit
- Upgraded four-pot front brake callipers
- New front circles
- New grip plate
- Full stainless steel exhaust
- Fuel-injection framework was supplanted by four carburettors
- New windscreen
- Silver Campagnolo wheels
- New covers
- Reconstructed seats and an
- Metal respray.
Offered up to be available for purchase by Silverstone Auctions at the Silverstone Classic 2013, the car returns available for sale with the with an asking price of 50,000 to 55,000 pounds (approx $88-97,000 AUD).
Richard Greenhalgh of the CCA had this to say:”The Montreal is rapidly becoming one of the most famous and desirable Italian sports cars of its decade, and this particular example is in stunning order, fresh from a restoration completed in January,”
He then goes on to add: “It’s not unusual to see classics return to auction, but this particular transformation has been very successful, and collectors and fans of exotic Italian design won’t want to miss this opportunity to purchase one of the finest Montreal’s we’ve seen,”
