The name of American high-end clothing designer, Ralph Lauren, is normally associated with fashion, class and good taste.

But besides his exceptional career in the fashion industry, Ralph Lauren has been collecting cars since 1971.

It’s all about speed, style and beauty!

His earliest purchases included the spectacular 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 4.5 convertible, a 1979 Porsche 930 and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing bought in 1983.

Today, Lauren has a huge collection of over 70 cars with some of the highest-valued automobiles in the world.

Estimated by Forbes, his car collection is worth whooping $300 million, while the designer alone has a net worth of $6.2 billion.

Ralph Lauren explains his passion for cars in a sense he sees them as moving art.

“I’ve always seen cars as art. Moving art. While friends of mine were into painting, I somehow felt that the real beauty of owning a rare and magnificently designed car was the fact you can use it. You can look at it, enjoy the visual qualities, as with a painting, but you can also get inside and drive it – which means both enjoying the drive itself and going somewhere with it.”

Summarising it perfectly for anyone who has the same passion for cars, Ralph Lauren doesn’t hold back when it comes to his cars and has even mentioned he wants to continue expanding his collection with some new-age cars.

His most prized car in his collection would have to be the Bugatti 57SC Atlantic of 1938, we’ve once covered this car in another post, click here to view more about the car.

The car is now worth around $50 million dollars, and the designer says he would never sell for any less, as he claims “it’s the most beautiful car in the world.”

Being a successful creative and designer, his cars have to have the touch of Ralph Lauren, him and his team also restore many of his cars he adds to the collection.

He changed a 1933 Type 59 Grand Prix Bugatti from light blue to black, and his Mercedes-Benz Gullwing coupe from traditional silver to cream.

“I wanted to restore them as I thought they should ideally be, I got the right colour, I got the right leather. These cars are all what you dream they should be” said Lauren.

We have a bunch of the priceless cars in Ralph Lauren’s collection down below! Check this amazing list out!
